Hear from the team:
Maddie Poeta - DIRECTOR

“I am so excited to direct this powerful film about a woman fighting for justice. The best part is the opportunity to do this with people I care about and trust. I met so many people on this team at work on movie and television sets. We connected during our long hours working together and bonding over our love for filmmaking. I wanted to make something to allow myself and my friends to showcase what we can do when we step into new roles on set."

 Josh Epstein - LEAD PRODUCER

"Through all the ups and downs we experience as artists in this industry, there's one thing that keeps the whole machine rolling: Love. I know it sounds a bit cliche, but pretty much everyone I've ever met in my career got into this line of work (either intentionally or inadvertently) because they have an innate desire to make things (specifically, films). My mission, as a Producer and a leader, is to cultivate a healthy, safe, and ethical environment in which the people I love can create things that they love. From the moment I heard about Chickentown, I knew I was being handed the perfect project to demonstrate my commitment to this path.

Getting to do the thing you love is an amazing gift. Getting to do the thing you love with people that you love is the greatest gift I can think of. I'm so excited to create an engaging, badass piece of art alongside this group of wonderful, talented, ambitious humans."

Vivi Bonomie - PRODUCER

"I joined this project for the opportunity to get to work closely with other queer women in film. It's an incredible bonus that the story sparks deeper conversations about womanhood that apply today as much as they did in the 70s. Like many others, I saw myself in Mitzi which made me all the more excited to help bring her to life."

Steven Wetrich - DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

"I have been looking for a script to get back into narrative cinematography for a while now. It is hard to find relevant stories and have the team behind them to make it worthwhile. I was immediately drawn to the script because it was clear that the vision was there from page one. It is cohesive, concise, and dramatic."

Vanessa Wilson - PRODUCTION DESIGNER

"When I was presented with Chickentown, I could see it all clearly in my mind. I began production designing for the love of sculpting the world of a film with the set pieces and props. It is the “little things” that go such a long way. I can’t wait to use my skills to find fun pieces and props to help create the world of Chickentown."

Matthew Edmonds - CO-WRITER

“I originally started writing Chickentown to tell a story of how small the world can be. But, as the story grew, it became more about trying to tell a story that shined a light on the important women in my life who have persevered and had to fight to get what they want for themselves and their families. I always had my mom in mind when the story started bending that way."

Will Levinger - CO-PRODUCER

"When I first read Chickentown, I was struck by how socially relevant it was and how well it was constructed as a suspenseful thriller. I always appreciate films that can work on multiple levels and appeal to a broad audience while saying something that people need to hear. Also, Maddie is a good friend and I wanted to work with her and support her as she takes the next step in her career."

Nicole Jordan-Webber - PRODUCER

“Well, I am dating the director.”
